He visited New York in less than five months of his release from imprisonment in Apartheid South Africa. The honorable David Dinkins was our mayor at the time. My mother took my sister and I to the square on Broadway near Fulton Street where we got a good view of his motorcade as it went pass. It’s been a busy year. I’m grateful to God for continuing to see me through and give me strength to persevere. It is most powerful to ‘keep on moving,’ as Soul to Soul sang; ‘don’t stop.’ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13. Hello World, Bonjour! I finally got to stop in and experience the unique new Nouvelle Vague Coffee-Shop in my neighboorhood. While the owner, Valerie Vidal brewed my hot chocolate and warmed my almond spinach quiche, I found the above picture quote in the restroom. ~Inspiration can come from many places. :)~ Melanie Lewis at Nouvelle Vague Coffee-Shop (Ms. Vidal was camera shy) :) Ms. Vidal is from Paris, France and used to work as a graphic artist in the movie industry. The name of her shop and collague inspired walls are an homage to the New Wave French Film Movement La Nouvelle Vague of the late 1950's -60's. This year my family had an intimate dinner at mom and dads place. It was special to give back to them what was given to us beyond holidays past. -A home of love, music, and laughter. Of course now and then their may have been a Grench or glitch, but the strength of love through faith has blessed us even till this present day. Everyday of life is a gift. Let's be grateful each day for family and friends. While our biological families are not necessarily chosen by us and things may not be as we'd like, we can appreciate the good times that made us glad. My mom's favorite scripture is Phillipians 4. -'Whatsoever things are lovely think on those things.' Be blessed everyday for the gift of life shared with family and friends.

Today at the Brooklyn Public Library's Central Branch NBC News Special Correspondent Chelsea Clinton read to attendees for Education Nation Week in New York City. Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman and The GingerBread Boy by Richard Egielski were two books read by Clinton. I attempted to let my nephew listen closer to the stories but he wanted his mommy. Oh well thank goodness local public school children were in attendance in addition to families. Children and adults were excited to see and hear from the daughter of the United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and 42nd President of the United States Bill Clinton . It was also awesome to meet the President of the library Linda E. Johnson . It was great to be in attendance at this event in my neighborhood. I love my library! I just was looking through the am New York paper and found out about the event this morning. I quickly placed a reservation to attend with my sister and nephew.
